Novel take, censored manhwa (spoilers)

Does anyone else who’ve read the novel feel more more hopeful about the manhwa because of the censoring? I honestly liked almost everything about the novel (characters, plot, worldbuiding, pacing etc) but how their first time was handled left me feeling quite… disgusted. It didn’t get much better afterwards but I lowered my expectations so I manage to finish it for the plot and the sake of being able to mark it as completed.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about (warning graphic) it’s about how ML basically wanted to bang MC and the people around him figured out how horrible it would be for MC because ML would probably go through with it violently and unprepared MC would get hurt and it would be traumatizing. So they taught both ML and MC how things world and gave ML the ”stuff that would make things easier”, only to still have him r*pe MC with no prep or control. I guess some might call it noncon that turned into consensual because in the end ”MC did enjoy some of it and if it’s the person he likes it’s okay” (which somehow extremely normalized). It ruined the story for me because it was so unnecessary as literaly everything else in the story could’ve still played out the same. With the manhwa not even showing the stuff they did one the ship I feel like this could be an overall good read.

I might be over sensitive but I’m also only so heavily disappointed because I truly liked the story so much.

I definitely think they are trying to make the manwha “safer” to read compared to the novel- I definitely think that they realized some things wouldn’t have gone over well with new audiences- especially if they are trying to expand its reach

True, it makes sense they want to reach a larger audience. Sole manhwa readers will check out the novel and some novel readers will check out the Manhwa. I jumped from from the Manhwa to the novel after the first season and the transition was very smooth. By then, the most graphic stuff was people dying, mostly because of Karas, so it wasn’t that bad and I really didn’t expect that the author would choose to write it that way. Maybe those who read the novel from the beginning felt it wasn’t unexpected or unsettling at all.

Manhwa is definitely R15 while the novel is R16.

In the novel, you have the King's Heart particularly Truyde and Norhox rape-torture people to death and Karas graphically killing people -innocent or not. Even the things that happened and will happen to Abel that are quite bothersome, all were toned down; case in point the latest manhwa chapter.

In the novel, Abel was bleeding and half of his face swole twice the size of its original shape after he was attacked by the two maniacs, that a particular character almost didn't recognize him because of his physical state, but we see him in the latest novel with only minimal physical trauma. I'm sure what Duke Truyde did to Abel in the novel when they met at the palace in the present time, some parts of it will be omitted too. I doubt this manhwa will portray Duke Truyde tonguing down Abel and all of that like what he did in the novel.

But yeah, the biggest contrast here is Karas. I the manhwa, we get to see parts of his POV, novel Karas didn't have that luxury, so Karas was more dreadful and more unpredictable to read; Manhwa Karas is also taking part in some comedic parts, while novel Karas was very oppressive, and a ticking time bomb. Manhwa Karas is definitely portrayed much gentler towards Abel.

To be honest, both novel and manhwa have their own charm. If you want a darker and more explicit atmosphere, novel is for you. If you want the opposite, then the manhwa is for you.

They didn’t go all the way one the ship but they kissed and touched each other… a lot lol. I thinks at that point Karas is staring to think ”Lil” could be Ables reincarnation but he (Lil) doesn’t know it because he doesn’t have Abel’s memories, which is why he just acts as him (Abel also insists he should not believe in reincarnation since he’s afraid of Karas being used and deceived and it’s better if he just think Abel is dead and he’ll help him as Lil as much as he can). I think Abel knows that the ”captain commander” is Karas, I don’t think he would’ve consented otherwise, but I could be wrong - it’s been a while since I read it. Abel doesn’t know that Karas suspects him so he thinks Karas doing it because of his ”needs” and that his new body is pretty/attractive.
