I am a proud member of the "Still hate them even after the back story." Club. Backstory gives a reason for why they did it but doesn't excuse them from what they have done. Shitty people are shitty people.
+ Hyesung can not be compared to that horse and all the other rapists.
Hyesung did leave that child but it definitely isn't a crime. + the child would have been fine even if he left coz the alpha is loaded with money.
im an old reader too (been here since 2020) but i never hated on hyesung. i even questioned the hate it was clear from chapter 1 that he was just someone who was trying to get by, meanwhile dojin was someone who was clearly a chaebol.
the power imbalance was clear from the beginning. hyesung never WANTED to be intertwined with dojin (and for valid reasons), but dojin kept taking advantage of hyesung's situation and bribing him with money and the idea of an easygoing life to keep him by his side -- even going to the extent of baby-trapping him. reminder, hyesung is 20 yo at this time (but this is the korean age, internationally he would actually be 19...) while dojin is 24 yo (23).
the readers 5 years ago all just saw hyesung as someone who was taking advantage of DOJIN's "kindness". they saw dojin as the one who was pitiful and selflessly kind, and hyesung as an ungrateful egotistical brat who leeched off of others.
and there was enough 'backstory' introduced in the beginning 10 chapters -- he had a bad father, and had lived all his life believing he was an alpha, just to be cruelly told that he was actually an omega (which he believed as being bad). and worse, he discovered this abt himself in a sexual encounter with an alpha where he was literally not in his right mind (and the alpha knew it...)
so his resent and reluctance towards dojin was valid to me. he bossed him around because he felt it was owed to him, which it REALLY was. he was barely an adult and was trying to survive (and now even pregnant despite only finding out he was an omega only a few weeks prior), and when he heard all the bribes dojin was presenting to him, there was no way he could resist. thats where the power imbalance was.
despite it being owed to him and it being part of the contractual agreement, he still felt bad when he had dojin go get food for a pregnancy craving that disappeared. even though it was part of the agreement and he shouldn't have had to feel guilty abt it.
you don't always need an official 'backstory' to understand a character enough to not hate on them. likewise, a character's backstory may explain but doesn't justify their actions.

why would his backstory be important in this situation? hyesung was SA and forced to give birth to byul in exchange of money, he was in a vulnerable situation and dojin took advantage of that. I'm also a old reader, I started to read when this was ongoing and guess what? I never felt that way about him, because dojin is the one who did EVERYTHING wrong, he made hyesung feel guilty about abandoning a child he didn't wanted and ended up baby trapping him, and hyesung's past doesn't have to do anything with understanding how wrong was what happened to him. and there's no way your examples are jaekyung and wooyeon lmaooo, even knowing their backstory, they're still assholes and abusers, there's no comparison with them and hyesung
Exactly my point, new readers lately hated Hyesung until the end of the story because of his 'tsundere' personality, meanwhile they accepted JK and Wooyeon when their backstory before they become an ass

Honestly, i see a lot of New Readers saying 'Why would they hate the character when he's a victim'
Here's an explanation to that, I'm an old Reader of this Manhwa, i was one of the readers who waited for the updates when this one was still on-going.
The hates for the character is understandable because we have to wait for each chapter to be released, and during those times, the mc's backstory is still unknown to lot of us.
Without his backstory, we were focused that time on how they act and their personality, specially when Chowon's story was released, i hated him lot more at first then slowly accepted him later on.
No one's hating Hyesung, people just don't agree on how his personality was built, it's a bit annoying but acceptable because of his backstory.
Like i said, it's normal for old readers to have that kind of expression because WE WAITED for the updates WEEKLY, unlike now that it's completed, people can comment later on after they read the whole story meanwhile we the old readers can only judge them based on EVERY CHAPTER that was released and that's exactly what was fun in reading the stories while ON-GOING, we goes rollercoaster from hate to like and like to hate to the characters.
So don't blame the old readers for giving negative comments before because that's normal even in other Manga/manhwa's that was released lately.
Admit it,
In "JINX" without JAEKYUNG'S backstory, you hated his guts.
In "Love History caused by Willful Negligence", you hated WOO-YEON without his backstory.
And there's a lot more new manhwa where you hated the characters then accepts them later on, so don't blame the others for showing their hates at first and later on accepts the character because they judged them first before the backstory was released.
