Actually, he doesn't care about his live and want to die, he try later but Josh stoped him. In one part of the novel Josh tell Chase that he can do anything for Chase, Chase ask even kill someone? (Even kill him). In one of the extras he is in his rut alone and the brother go for Josh, when Chase see Josh, he smile and ask him is he is there to kill him, and ask to please kill him.
