Same in here. I didnt even know cousins marrying considered incest until later lol. I saw my schoolmates more than my cousins. I never considered them as family either. Its just, they are like some distant relatives i rarely see.

i think one of the main reasons its really taboo now, is because of birth defects and how close they are on the family tree
Turkey, muslim. I mean, i dont think my parents would make us marry cousins or i never saw them that way either. But i also dont see them as family either. Our culture really cares for family, relatives but idk most of them seems like a stranger to me. I think it makes sense for people to worry about birth defects and we shouldnt normalize marriage between siblings/cousins. Like, siblings i can kinda understand because its not normal but cousins? Lol. I mean, birth defects chance are low and in this story, they both are men so i couldnt care less about them being relatives lol. As long as there is no grooming, sexual assault and if they didnt fall in love because they have weird family fantasy fetsh, or something, then its ok, in my opinion.
yes they're both men but in normal circumstances birth defects aren't low. just look at king charles
anyway idk for me cousins are like my little brother or sisters too so it might be culturally diff but we have muslim brothers & sisters who marry cousins in my country too

relative marriage happens frequently in my country it's not a sin in our religion too, for me it's fine if it's fiction but a big no in real life, my cousins are like brothers to me
