it's definitely that, the captain that mc was with dumped him due to him being taller and no longer what we call a twink, therefore mc gone through a. depressive episode bc I believe the he was in love with the captain that's why he wished that he didn't grew taller, and he sorta gets his wish granted in the form of the shrinking disease, that's also why whenever he's in his twink state he'll always look for other tall & big men to fck to stimulate that feeling when he was doing it with the captain.

If I give them the benefit of the doubt maybe they did this plot to shed light on ageism towards bottoms and twinks irl? Ngl so many of my self proclaimed twink friends dread aging and gaining weight or muscle
Either way I'm not into seeing teens and adults get into it but I do wonder what the author does with the plot
