These people are very rare that their population is close to 0 so not many know their existence and how their reproductive anatomy operates. They are still being studied to understand how their anatomy works. The most difficult part is that every intersex people have different reproductive anatomy so the study might take a few more centuries or decades to fully understand how it works. For all we know, this does not hurt the intersex people (at least according to the the studies I read). Im not sure if they too experience period like women or not. All I can say is, they may be strange but they are still people after all.
