I agree with you to an extent. But i would like to offer another perspective.
I would personally separate the veiwers into two groups. Those who read for to understand and those who read for entertainment.
Both arent mutually exclusive but i would say your average mangago enjoyer reads to be entertained. Now sometimes complexity is boring lets be honest. The average person is not reading that deep into things unless its their job, and would find it hard to be entertained by complex mc’s especially when literal side characters seem more entertaining and relatable. Take corey for eg. It would be understandable for some readers to be aggravated by the mcs behaviour, especially since we’re almost 100 chapters in and still no proper romantic development. And even if there, is it all seems to be from the male leads perspective no? This is a romance comic. Yet our literal main character seems to not be bothered with it (even being this far into the story)
I think it makes people subconsciously think that the ending will be rushed,and so they blame shushus personality for not letting the romantic plot advance. They dont care about complexity. They just want to see their ships sail!
I love the fact youre willing to understand shushu’s personality, i think by doing so we as readers will enjoy the story more too!
I don't think it has anything to do with her age. I mean, she has her past life, and she was an adult in that one, she has had more than enough time to develop an interest in love.
I think it has more to do with the fact that she read a book where all those guys were in love with her best friend, and in this life she is used to have people getting interested in her just to approach Hess.
Also, there are studies that indicate that it is much harder to realize when somebody is in love with you than when they are in love with somebody else. It can be frustrating for the reader, but it is just normal.
Idk why people said that the mc is intolerable or annoying. I've read the entire thing (currently chapter 89) and instead of being annoying like some have said she seems to have a more complex personality to me.
She knows how to draw a line AND she isn't a pushover. She's strong and funny but a bit clueless about romance AND THAT'S COMPLETELY FINE. Idk why people always gotta hate on things they don't try to understand. MC has taken her time to get to know all her friends AND since she's still young herself it's obvious that not every young person is thinking of romance or whatever. It's natural for people around her age to be more focused on friendships and HELPING HER FRIENDS DURING HARD TIMES. So instead of saying something like she's annoying just say you don't understand PLEASE . But this is just my take on this so if you read this and still think she's annoying then
