Due to the interference from the admin that concurred when Nel the grand duke was telling him that he loves him, and the ML read that as “I hate you”- it created the irresistible trust breach which would take long time to mend, like trust. I guess that’s why they are coming off less affectionate

what kinda ruined their entire relationship for me is the dub-con sex in the beginning.
It was totally out of place, and made the intimacy they share later less meaningful imo
I'm all for spice in stories like this, but not at the cost of the character dynamics and relationship build-up
