Did the kidnapping indeed the Remington’s family scheme? The lady on the last page of chapter 54?
Can you tell for what reason? Is it pure jealousy towards the supposedly secret inherited talent? Or is it really just to make sure Lia didn’t get betrothed to the prince?

It's a collab scheming between that lady and the royal family of the eastern kingdom (?) family (aka the guy that got wacked in the shin by MC). It's a scheme to make the country's barrier fall down and be overrun by the shadowy thingy (forgot name lol).

The lady gets involved because she wants to be free from her noble family's duty. Remember, the 4 noble families and the royal family has to dedicate their lives for maintaining the barrier, they are not free. MC's family is just too hardheaded to be controlled by the council.

So anyway. The lady doesn't want to be shackled her whole life for a country she didn't love, so she schemed with that eastern kingdom royalty (the only country that has no shadowy thingy, thus, no magic stone). But the lady didn't care who died so long as she gets free.

Honestly I don't exactly remember. It's been a long while since I last read it.

So basically the climax of the novel is when there's a hostage situation, and the eastern army managed to bring down the barrier by disconnecting and stealing (I think) the magic stone from the main barrier machine.

I don't remember much about others, I mostly remember the MC, but of I'm not mistaken, the lady and her husband ran away to eastern kingdom. So unless they caught her, she wasn't able to be punished. The damanged shin guy though, he was caught, so there's that.

What I somewhat remember is that the lady's children either ran away from the lady, or refused to follow her to the neighboring country. The children wasn't punished, of course, but their family name got demoted, I think? I don't know if there's any change, but I particularly remember feeling angry that the lady ran away.

I need to read it again.

To be clear, the Easter have lesser Hollows (shadowy thing) since they have more plains and farms than mountains but they still have, not much affected though...

What happened to the mastermind is that Ange plans to secretly flee to Easter Kingdom with her family while forcibly bring her daughters in order to bring damage to their own Kingdom by disabling the Kingdom barrier and Hollows to come inside and take people's lives (a.k.a. Kingdom's doom). She connives with the 3rd Prince of Easter.

3rd prince of Easter goes to the barrier room to remove the barrier stone but didn't succeed since Lia and Nico were there to sabotage them twice while hiding, until both of them gave up hiding and face with 3rd prince once again. The royalties were tied up by this time while the royal academy (where Gil & Luke currenly) were guarded by the 3rd prince's group. Dean (Lia's father) and Stan (Gil's father) were away at far countryside during that time.

As to what happened to the daughters Felicia & Christine. After knowing that their family won't return to Kingdom, they flee from their parents while in Easter and went to Albans residence to
seek refuge and explain that their mother won't return to Kingdom. Thus upon the story reveal, Ange commited crime of leaving responsibility as part of 4 great houses and she'll be treated as criminal to be tried after capturing her. Felicia don't want to runaway from their responsibility as part of 4 great noble houses that's why she returns to Kingdom. She's was just starting to learn duties as head while assisting her mom and pouring mana on to the stone when their mother suddenly decided to flee without the daughters knowledge.

The punushments for Remington family:

The daughters will be adopted by Lisburn house (Gil's family). Felicia will carry on the duties as head with the assist from other 3 great noble houses + royal family until she can carry the duties herself. Their family standing will be lower than other 3 great noble houses temporarily. The daughters are not allowed to go outside the country.

Remington's estate and assets were currently frozen until further announcement (I forgot if until Felicia can be independent as head or until the jury decides the verdict).

The ending for Ange, the mastermind was lifetime imprisonment for the couple after being captured. Before imprisonment, Ange requested to face the 4 great noble families in a room together with her husband Broad, she confess to some of her crime including wanting to bring down the Kingdom, conniving with 3rd prince of Easter in order for them to taste her suffering but refuses to admit her reason for kidnapping Lia aside from a snide sarcasm of wanting Lia to disappear but was surprised that Lia was still alive after all that. The husband Broad supports her in everything even if they went to imprisonment together while leaving their daughters parentless, only Broad hugs their daughters while saying goodbye while Ange just leaves without any regard or regret.

What happen to Easter was they got attacked by Kingdom after they commit a crime that threatens the security of Kingdom and it's people by disabling the barrier and imprisoning the royalties. It was still unclear if the royal family of Easter were truly involved in the sceme, but they got punished as well by forcing them to abdicate the throne, in which the Kingdom chose another people to rule Easter while Kingdom currently holds authority over Easter.

The hostage taking in Royal Castle lasts for 3 days. After Lia and Nico gave up hiding and face with 3rd prince, 3rd prince flees after Hans came to the rescue.

Hans is the one who let Lia and Nico hides in barrier room's resting room (good thing they hides snacks in here as part of their mischievous secret hideout plan).

I won't spoil what happened during the 3 days since it will spoil the fun! It's nerve wracking, exciting and funny at antics of Lia and Nico who saves the Kingdom in the end.

also, I'd like to ask, will Lia finally be able to cross her arms by the end of the novel?

The web novel is still ongoing (new updates weekly, just recently new set of updates since after uploading few chapters, it usually stops for months), she's currently 3 years old about to turn 4 years old, since Nico was 3 when he can cross his arms, so as Lia. (=・ω・=)
