I totally agree with you here. What’s even worse is that rape is a very serious topic and plot device that can transform the whole narrative and create a justifiably unhinged character hooked on vengeance but the writers are shit and just think it’s hot. In the end, taekjoo forgives Zhenya, they fall in love and what not. It’s ridiculous and gross. If the rape isn’t going to be treated seriously, fucking get rid of it and just make a high tension enemies-to-lovers-in-denial sex scene. I’m so glad that there’s more of us trying to point out this bs.
People in the comments forgetting that you can like a story and still point out its flaws. Zhenya raping Taekjoo is bad and we could totally go without it & I like the story are two statements that can coexist. I haven't read this entirely but you don't have to defend Zhenya's actions to show your support or act like because it's a "dark" story it makes sense for there to be scenes like these when actually there's more ways to portray Zhenya's volatile character and the story would be infinitely better if it was written without the nonsensical rape-to-love trope.
