Right? its a bit confusing. But if they keep mentioning they were just a character in the book then maybe they were really just a character. The real world wasn't mentioned. Kinda like a character breaking fourth wall
But its also confusing how it appeared in the fake world. It would've been better if they said that the book were a record of their past life.
