why does it feel racist?
The way they play in to the dangerous black perosn stereotype or thinking stereotypically on how we live in Africa idk maybe not racist but a little micro aggressive
I thought so too but at the same time it's a japanese manga so maybe they didn't do their research about how the culture difference seem like but it's cute overall and luca was so sweet and beautiful I hope u don't feel bad or offended

No I definitely agree I actually had to put my phone down during the basketball game in ch3 and contemplate life while looking out the window, the story is cute but there’s definitely little racist elements that pile onto one another. (It doesn’t seem mean-spirited but it definitely relies heavily upon stereotypes and a sort of “othering” of Luca in a way that harkens to “race science”)
As a black person myself, I didn't find it racist. I actually think the writer did their research on maasai for this story. Except for the dreads slowly disappearing, which I still found funny, i didn't see anything wrong with it.
I mean yeah everyone has there opinions but I definitely felt like some of the assumptions about him came as micro aggressive
You can be micro agressive without realizing it even with research that tends to happen with culture gap it doesn’t make the author inherently racist just a little more research could’ve been done imo
