He ruined the mc's proposal before proceeding to propose himself and he also made the mc cry after during/after sex. He doesn't deserve the mc. He made the mc suffer even though he already knew Lyle had feelings for him then got into his, "Oh, I'm depressed. No, I didn't know he loved me." But what can we do, Lyle loves him, he is so precious.

Lyle is someone that tends to keep problems and his feelings to himself instead of communicating with his partner— it’s his defense mechanism. This on multiple occasions has directly lead to fights, (Lyle ending their arrangement without telling Ash why, pushing Ash away for his past with Hazel and before hearing him out).

At this point in the relationship, Ash is aware of this (they literally had a talk about Lyle needing to be more honest) and sensing that something was on Lyle’s mind wanted to get the truth out of him so it doesn’t lead to another fight or build resentment. It just so happened to be the proposal.

Ash really wasn’t being as unreasonable as you make him out to be. Who was the one that said this is only an arrangement and to not catch feelings? Lyle. Who was the one that ended things on his own? Lyle.

You also have to keep in mind that Ash likely DIDNT know the extent of Lyle’s feelings for him. On multiple occasions Ash tells Lyle that he can’t read him and later on finds out at the engagement party just how different Lyle had been treating him compared to other people.

So this was Ash’s situation. The person who told him to not catch feelings broke it off out of nowhere. He decides not to go after him because they were technically nothing but contract fuckbuddies and he was hurt that Lyle broke things off when everything was going good. Why should he have chased after Lyle? Ash was doing him a favor in the first place. He wasn’t even aware of the depth of his own feelings for Lyle until he realized after a month and went after him.

I agree, they both have flaws! I think the problem with Ash is that he’s nice to everyone but rarely shows vulnerability, and that makes it hard to tell if he’s being sincere or treating you like any other person. Lyle’s problem is that he doesn’t communicate.

So I don’t understand why this person demonizes Ash and babies Lyle? They’re not perfect but neither of them are such awful people that they don’t deserve each other.

So what you're saying is I can't dislike a character and say he isn't the greenest flag everyone makes him out to be?
