His jinx is the entire reason Kim Dan had to suffer his abuse. It was mentioned very warly on in the story and has been mentioned here ans there throughout
Also, this jinx/routine stuff is a legit superstition that real life athletes have. Some of them believe in and do some super weird shit before a game/competition.
His sudden “feelings” for Dan seems kinda forced lol.
