She's technically not 12 and he's waiting for her to turn 18(on paper) to get married. Her body just got smaller, but her age remains unchanged. Think of it like certain people have conditions that don't let them grow, would you call them a child just because they look like one

I didn't and if you read the early chapters he obviously didn't. He said it himself, that she just reminded him of his dead crush and that he felt about seeing the child as his crush
Have you met people under 25? As someone who is 28 this year, all of it checks out. She was oblivious and didn't realize jack shit until he literally got down on one knee. She's kind of autistic/ADHD with her hyper focus being sword fighting, magic, and working out, and not knowing how to talk to other people LOL
I'm NOT defending her family, but it does say that they only knew the full extent of how she was treated after she died. They probably thought that even though they were cold to her, she was being raised well by the household/nanny
And they never checked if their assumption was right = they didn't care for her
That tells a lot about yourself and nothing about people under 25
This story is overly weird with plotholes.
Also Patricia is way too forgiving towards her family. Her father is basically only acting nice now because he thinks he won't be able to see his dead wife in heaven if he doesn't redeem his bad doings. He could have easily met his daughter in the military and ask for her forgivnes instead of literally blackmailing a 7 year old child into being his daughter.
Additionaly, multiple people only give Patty love because she "looks like" Patricia. Imagine Patty wasn't Patricia, how extremly sad and tragic would it be, to only be able to live as the replica of a dead person and not as yourself. Never to be loved because you are you, but because you resemble another person.
And, as many others have said: Theo what the actual fuck are you doing with a 12 year old girl?
Debating if I should drop this because overall, the story isn't that interesting and Patricia is is a bit too oblivious for a 27 year old woman from the military.
