My take

The excessive consumption of SA and rape in media is kinda overly normalized. There's a lot of non-con elements in manhwas BL, GL, or straight and I think it messes up our brains. That combined with the lack of proper sex education in school really impacts our way of thinking. Studies actually show that people actually admit to wanting to rape someone if they could get away with it as long as the question didn't title it as rape. Furthermore, the actual victims also dont realize they've been assaulted and they're reluctant to actually title what happened as SA/rape. It's actually ruining us I believe and I really hope something can change. Schools should provide sex education and awareness about SA and stuff like that. Plus, due to there being so much "red flag" elements like assault and rape in manhwas, the peoples' standards have really dropped. Just because someone doesn't touch you non-consensually, doesn't mean they're a "green flag", it just means they're a normal person and not a fucking criminal. It's seriously messed up our view on love and respect. We have need to have higher standards and expectations other than common sense and being a decent human being.

I feel like people don't talk about this enough. Eveytime I see posts abt popular manhwas that have rape in it I js get so mad bc ppl know it's wrong but choose to ignore it because they "changed" or that person forgave them. Smt like this would most likely never happen irl. ppl fantasize about it

fr like a few days ago i asked ppl if a manhwa had any dubcon/noncon in it and ppl said no. then i read it and lo and behold nearly all of the sex scenes in the 1st season had the bottom saying stop or pull out . are we actually being so fr. it just shows how ingrained stuff like this is that ppl dont even realize that what theyre seeing isnt pure consensual sex.

100% agree. I don’t mind rape in stories when they are written like a traumatic event, because that’s what it is, but every manwha ever (yaoi especially) sexualises and romanticises rape and the relationship between the victim and the rapist and it’s so disgusting

U know the people making this are in east Asia right? Most normies in the west have never read manga/manhwa. I doubt it’s had the impact you are implying

Words like "stop" or "slow down" are being watered down to this state and it's not healthy im telling ya.. if your partner says stop, stop. Consuming that type of media can wire your brain into thinking its fine even when your partner doesnt stop when you say so, or when you dont stop even when your partner says so. Yea people can say "its just fictional, its not real" but honestly, it can really influence us irl too. Thats why brands advertise and promote their products online.. its because they know we can be influenced by things we see online the same way as we get influenced by the people and the environment around us
