i mean youre exactly right, the trial and the church going on a witch hunt against shuri is because they dont like that she as a woman has so much power as the head of the Neuschwansteins (like legit i think this was word for word spoken by the cardinal with the edgy eyeliner.) Thats the whole point. She can't "prove" shes a innocent. And i mean even in the og trial the way they proved she and Johan never had a romantic relationship was through the letter exchanges between him and his brother-in-law. The trial isn't actually about religion either, its a political scheme. Remember the church is trying to usurp power from the nobles and the king. If they succeed in giving Shuli a guilty sentence, they can point fingers at any noble and strategically take power and presteige away from them. (think back to the whole church embezzaling money to fund their Holy Knights, bc they wanted to start a Holy War, this was around the chirstmas arc.) Bc also, how deos one prove they aren't in a relationship, some of the evidence is rumors and he puppet show, thats literally just hearsay and isn't truly admissible in court. They can't without a reasonable doubt say they are not in a relationship either. (bc the defendent has to prove without a reasonable doubt they are innocent, or at least from a modern legal perspective which isn't really being used here.) ANYWAYs, sorry for the spiel lol
