Ohhh it didn't stop there, she also figured I'd want to watch musicals and Rom coms with her, and that my favorite song should be "I Will Survive", eventually I had to sit her down and explain not all gays are like she was imagining, it turned out it was because she found out there were gay characters in the show Modern Family, and started watching it because she thought it would help her connect with me better, yup that's my mom.
She acted pretty much the way my mom did when I came out. She was in shock and a bit of denial but not angry and said she needed some time to process. A week or so later she said it doesn't matter who I love as long as im happy, than she asked if I would go shopping and watch award shows with her. I was like how is watching awards shows a gay thing? But i digress. I told her I'll watch the awards shows, but shopping us where I cross the line. And she said "what kind of gay man are you?" And we both laughed.
