So basically, right now Hima is slowly rediscovering his powers, he doesn't know he's an esper but knows he has some power inside him.
Than discovers a thorn bush made of the hima's power that killed the monster while he is out with Kian (A resident of outer city border).
Kian is a guide who seems to love an outsider named Junoh.
Junoh is an esper and an old acquaintance of Shin Hawajin (Now called Hima after memory loss). Both are from low zone, Junoh got admin position because of his father in a powerful military position.
While initially Hima hated "these higher ups" he joins later on to protect his younger brother Shin Hwayoung, whom Junoh outed as a guide.
Hima was a leader of team 4 but we saw what happen in the first 2 chapters.
Right now we are in the love arc between than and Hima, the thriller part is probably going to start after that.
P.S - The chaps are confusing. You're not a moron :)
I'm pretty sure that Hima wasn't the leader as he was treated as useless weakling that only distracted the monsters, and it was also implied that he killed the leader before he tried to kill himself.
