I am pretty sure that after being betrayed by his chief, MC has decided to pursuit all the bad guy using no more justice but violence, obviously without tell anyone. He will kill or expose slowly all the corrupted one on high level, and then... (wild guess but would be cool) kill himself and his buddy.
"I will sink and bring everyone with me" vibe.
