basically his family's company went under and there were loan sharks after him, they were tailing him and noticed him with fl and then would call him and threaten to hurt/target/traffick the fl to get to him. He was super concerned for her safety and he didnt want to bring her down + didnt want her to be concerned + didn't want them to be connected in the eyes of the thugs, so he publicly treated her like shit and appeared to interact w multiple women so that the thugs would not see her as his serious gf. I mean it worked bc she broke up with him but he was very very sad doing it and he was actually completely poor / working from the ground up afterwards. thats why he made the whole phone company where the idea is you can fish out scammers and such bc his life was so affected by the scammers/thugs etc. I may have forgotten some info bc its been awhile since ive read through all the spoilers so take this with a grain of salt but yeah this is the gist !
