I dont really know how that plot is supposed to work. The majority of people are more or less straight so there isn't really a realm where a gay man "never considered dating a woman" growing up. Its the relationship type we're all most exposed to.

I suppose you could have it in a fictional setting like Omegaverse, or with high schoolers discovering their sexuality - but in regular slice of life it would just be odd for an adult to realize they're bi, years after realizing they're gay. Youd need to give that character a very confused backstory, to make it coherent that they missed their ability to be attracted to the gender society expects them to be attracted to.
