Read the official translation.The 8 was written in a strange way, so the fan translation team got it wrong. Officially Josh is now 185 cm.
Originally he was~180 cm, when the novel was released first, but the author raise the heights over all.
The Millers are just extremely tall. I don't know if Chase is still under 2m, because we don't know if he still grows, since the author didn't give their ages. But he was originally 10-15 cm taller than Josh, and Grayson (Alex is his dog) is taller than Chase.
But the hights, even the bodybuild is often off. Was the same in KML by a different artist. Chase is actually thin with less muscle mass than Josh.
They even messed up his eye color when they showed him in that chocolate commercial, because that is actually impotant to understand why Chase had so many problem with his family.

Ah, thank you. I did check the official chapter but I must have skimmed right over it in my flurry. And I guess somewhere in the back of my mind his name wasn't Alex when Chase was talking to the doctor but that conversation already felt out of left field so that stuck instead.
Or maybe I really need to slow down and not binge read right before bed. Again, thank you for clearing that up.
I started reading yesterday. Since I got their height back in chapter 14, it has been bugging the hell out of me how off the proportions are. Yeah, it seems odd when Chase calls Josh short until we get height confirmation for the security team. But then, it all start falling apart. It's not just "camera angles;" even side by side shots, they barely make Josh short.
He's 165cm and I'm 162.5 so it clicked into my head that he is barely taller than me. I'm the average height for a female, which should put him close to the same height as Laura and Becky (Chase's current costar whom I think illustrates what the actual height difference between him and Josh should look like.) I can barely see over the heads of my friends two inches shorter than me, which roughly equals 5cm.
The rest of the security team is 25-29cm taller than him. He should at least be level with Isaac's chin (who is another person not drawn in proportion either, followed by their boss who yes, is a beta, but he's supposed to be the same height as Henry.) And if Chase is calling him short, he should be higher than the barely-over-his-head difference we see between them. The only person in proportion so far has been Chase's brother Alex, who has to crane down even to leer over him.
So my brain keeps thinking of Josh as a scrappy "Irish" guy and it just clashes with the rest of the cast. Even his sister. At his shoulders in heels? She's tiny and Pete should be closer to her hip.
I won't stop reading but I guess I'm saying that my brain is glitching out.
