I think that if the author showed more of Jaekyung's thoughts, emotions, and expressions since the first season, instead of just small hints, I think the revelation of his feelings would be more natural. I'm not saying it seems forced or anything; he's been struggling with his feelings, but, as he says, he didn't give it any more thought since it had nothing to do with his career. It's only now that he's paused his life, fallen so low, and taken the time to analyze himself that he can admit them. But he still doesn't say the words, not even to himself. He has to regulate his temper; at least he's aware of his harshness and all the damage he's done. For someone who has suffered such emotional neglect since childhood, it makes sense that such emotions elude him or he doesn't want to become familiar with them. But he still did everything wrong.

Another thing, Kim Dan's coldness and indifference are commendable. Although he cares about Jaekyung and his well-being, he doesn't waver and maintains his stance of not wanting to get any closer to Jaekyung, or vice versa.

Now Jaekyung is going to have to work harder than anyone else if he truly wants to regain Kim Dan's love and trust. Kim Dan doesn't need the abusive and mistreat that Jaekyung is known for.

Hopefully, we'll see a gentler and decent side of Jaekyung.
