That's false equivalence. Those two points you bring up are completely irrelevant. So according to you anyone who doesn't have the means to legally consume content and chooses to pirate instead shouldn't be allowed to critique the questionable plot choices of said media? This story blatantly romantisized abuse and sexual assaults and tried to get pity points for the perpetrator just because he had a hard childhood. Critically consuming media is what makes everyone grow and understand what is right and what shouldn't be forgotten so easily. You questioning the morality of critiques for their piracy will not change the fact that the main character of this story is just bad.

if you excuse abuse and assault in fiction that means you are ready to turn a bild eye for a real life situation. you can make as many excuses as you want, saying how piracy cancels out any sort critique, but it is a fact that this character is problematic and just because the people who called it out are reading the story in a pirated website will not change that fact.
