I didn't miss it, I understood that and the reason for it after the reveal which was beautiful, i was speaking on how the build up and the warning made it FEEL like it was extreme, especially going off the past expectations of Richard's preferences. in this case, I was strictly referring to the morbid sexual dynamic we have come to know, rather than the actual plot.
for real, especially with what they have done already, but I have a feeling this was just the plot opened for a whole new Richard kink era. low-key kinda scared and excited for what comes next.

I agree it was overhyped, but Richard did also pick something "easy for Courtney", it was another level up from spanking/commands (in his mind) but I dont think it was near the top of the list in terms of extremes, I think he was shaking and stuff coz he was scared to ask for a "level up"
...So maybe I'm a little too desensitized. Honestly I thought he was going to ask for something extreme with how bad he was shaking, like knife play or being pegged. But choking was a bit unexpected and underwhelming.
