I don’t think her being a “mean girl” is related to how he treated her though- he didn’t speak up about that either. Her gossiping does not justify his behavior. you don’t get to mug someone just because they jaywalked two minutes ago. I do agree that it is more nuanced tho, he’s not completely at fault either

CLEARLY showing that hes afraid to be himself around that grp of ppl bcs they cld also talk badly about him just like they talk shit about others. is he not allowed to feel scared that they wld make fun of him/ ostracise him? they are the same age and js bcs hes a man doesnt mean he cant fear alienation. all these things cld cause why he felt drained and why he didnt break it off earlier. such things are there to help understand why things in a story happen the way it does. so YES her being mean does contribute to why things happened the way they did!
I’m saying that the story itself gave little indication to the readers that his holding onto the relationship was something caused by fear. How it is written is him acting more annoyed than anything that she’s bothering him. You can say that there was more to his emotions than that, but reading his thoughts throughout their entire relationship, he is both acting and thinking like a boyfriend who doesn’t care for his girlfriend.
well in a short manga they wont rlly dwell on minor plot lines in great detail it is up to us to interpret and reason with things to make sense. u think hes annoyed for no reason? And yeah he does not care its pretty evident and they said he was js going along w it which is why he felt burdened and guilty after he finally broke it off. i just feel like everyone gives her so much grace but when it comes to him all of a sudden hes such a flat asshole bf character that js does things w no reason.
