Well, if it is really postpartum depression then I can understand and wont blame the mother. But if she is being depressed and emotionally unstable only because the husband left them, it is just not worth it. Most mother would already be content to have custody over the child. Regarding money, raising a kid ofc she would struggle, but ive seen many cases a single mother can raise a child perfectly fine despite financial problems.

I just thought of an advice saying that men are not worth stressing over. If they are nice then it’s fine to keep them. If not, just let them go. ^^ Women can live just fine without them.

Honestly. This is just like the case with harem members in Chinese dynasty back in the day. They don't actually want the emperor. They want better living conditions :(

In here, we never know why the mom gave birth to the kiddo. But from the living conditions of them, I think they are struggling. Idk why she don't go to work (perhaps lack of education etc, the usual case)

I really think, tbh she doesn't want the "dad" to come back to her as a romantic partner. She just wants her life to get better, at least, financially by the support of the "dad" which is still questionable at this point since we don't know for sure what happened with them.

Part of her reason to exit I think it's also so her son won't suffer from her anymore . . . Like, she is tired, she doesn't have any will to life, she can't change her life, the only possibility to changer her life gone (the dad), her life is gonna be miserable with no possible future, and well a lots of things. I'm not author, but I can kinda related to this on some levels. My mom kinda abusive (not by psychical rn, and never been to the extend as in the story) and everytime she is struggling, I ended bearing the brunt of it. lol
