The amount of damage a character like Jaekyung did wouldn't go away simply because of a simple redemption arc. In reality, no character that's been abused so much like Dan could forget it all and be lovey dovey. But Mingwa will portray a victim like Dan can have that happiness with a character like Jaekyung.
If Mingwa could portray the amount of impact this level of abuse of can have, or even if Jaekyung uproot the world, it will never compensate that damage; it would've been a decent story.
