yeah I read the novel a long time ago. the first part of side stories is their past from ido's pov if I'm not wrong, so I guess it'll be revealed then
if I remember correctly in the novel ido went into a rut that night... it doesn't excuse what he did but at least he didn't do it when he was in a right state of mind.. it's weird that they changed that, or maybe it will be revealed later
