I don't know how people are hating on him. He is a green flag golden retriever that is acting as an obsessive top due to an error. You get the best of both worlds. Because MC is so dense that ML will not be able to be with him without doing something drastic. They were friends for 10 years and that whole time he had 0 progress with MC. But you know as soon as they leave he will be back to being a cute and thoughtful person.
I guess if the author showed us them acting outside of this world with his true self would have cleared up that misunderstanding.
But I agree, people need to pay more attention to what is happening on the story. You forgot to mention that he wasn't sleeping for days to fix up code and he relied on coffee. He trapped MC to make sure he didn't mix with the side character. He was being jealous, but he was also right that we don't know what would have happened if MC went with the other guy. He also trapped him in order to not r*pe him again. He actually had far more self control than most characters I have seen in a while.
