It sparked curiosity since the beginning of this manhwa how such an irredeemable character will be dealt with. This feels so half assed. So everything that is known about him is how much of a sex maniac, inhumane person he is for his childhood beating from which he vowed to be not like that? For what, a said jinx he thought but how did this jinx gave him right to beat and assault a person just cause he gave money? So parallel to those few scum at red light area who thinks if they pay enough money, they get to scar the person?
The amount effort Mingwa put into making him a bad guy and sex scenes, if she could that much effort into actually an interesting character.

It's painful to read Beserk, but people still do. Beserk is masterpiece tho.
Mingwa's previous work although not great was decent compared to this. So be it very little, there were expectations and hope held, moreover curiosity to see how she would make such a hateable character work. More than 90% of haters already know they're gonna end up. But, in real life we still vent frustration despite knowing the outcome.
I am going to stop everything and everyone right here right now but I don’t think berserk is a masterpiece. The drawing quality is great in my opinion but it is as far as I can compliment it.
I don’t believe in that « masterpiece » bullshit.
Most of the time it’s just a bunch of men jerking together to the thought of those « overly manly-alpha-violent-mysterious-« only I (a man with a man brain can understand it even tho there is no real hidden meaning and it’s free of interpretation) »» pieces of literature/movies/mangas that way too often depict plain violence toward women and children. The more it gets them off the easier it will be for them to call it a « masterpiece »…
I’ve read « BJ Alex » which is why I’m not surprised by the quality of characters. It’s the same situation with a different front. A recycling of the same materials : abuse, trauma, trauma bonding, Stockholm syndrome etc… and the recipient of all this misfortune - a poor-poor, credulous, touch deprived, lonely, depressed, desperate main character.
If being objective about the situation and the author make me a hater than so be it! And you no what ? I hope I’m in the top 3 of the hall of fame of haters! Because we’re sick and tired of this lack of originality and the banalisation of those horrible-nasty-dehumanising relationships that romanticise abuse and toxic relationships.

I did… for a while I stopped reading it and than an ad popped up on Instagram so I went to see what’s up and I was let down (once more)
What bothers me is that every time I feel like we’ve hit rock bottom with Jaekyung being a soulless-abusif-selfish-manipulative-piece of shit we get to discover a new level… I’m not buying this sad little backstory of his… it should explain why he is such a bad person when as a matter of fact it should be reason for him to stray as much as possible away from the examples he had…

This man never learns, period . He said that it’s not a matter of winning, which is true and linked to the fact that there is no loser or winner, but goes back to his childish way of thinking saying that he lost.
Please somebody run him over. That is my last wish. Because after everything he put our poor MC through(physical & psychological abuse, r@pe, kidnapping etc…) he really hopes to fix things and guess what ? He will succeed because no one has common sense here.
