I get why Doumeki said it. Yashiro was acting all cold. He reached out with his hand and that pulled it back after all and was about to leave. And Domeki kept him there, by asking, if he had anything to ask, which yashiro refused too. Yashiro might be thinking "I really gotta cut him off now or else he's gonna die for me." Doumeki realized that and said "I just returned the favor"=it' just a one time thing and won't happen again. He lied, hoping to give Yashiro an excuse to stay.
They both know. Doumeki is afraid to be too much again. But i think this time he can be that much and more. Yashiro makes it look like it is all sexual but he has been giving more . I mean hopefully lol who knows with this manga.

He's really trying not to push the romance so much cuz he knows Yashiro will back away. He knows how he thinks now. It's a thin line he has to balance on, between openly lovi ng Yashiro and him running away again. But he couldn't help but act on his emotions this time. Hopefully the excuse works (づ￣ ³￣)づ
I kinda want to see Yashiro freak out if Doumeki leaves and goes to his boss without him knowing.

yashiro needs a slap rn for acting all cool & cold ... & im also mad abt doumeki’s stupid excuse "i was returning a favor" ?? my ass .. just say u love him & u would give up the world including ur live to protect him ... fgs a teenage love story shoujo wouldn't be this complicated ugh
