they don't think they're the main character, it's not their universe, they shouldn't make themselves at home,
Its why alot of them have that internal struggle, especially as they get closer to the characters, or family. The Love experienced, the memories and the emotions fighting against knowing what is inveitablelly going to happen in the story, believing you have no say or right to interfere, its probaly painful to think you have no place or use in a world your an active participant of.

Why the MC in isekai romance always think their presence won't change how the main couple perceive each other ?? Weither it's hetero or yaoi, ML always shows complete disinterest for their original lover but MC can't see it. I can understand if they're blinded by the story they read at first, but that much it's just annoying
