To an extent, I do agree for me. I’m not there’s not an issue with the ml and his breathing, because technically we were supposed to see it like it made sense because we were there and for the FL had already been quite a bit and she probably barely knew him for I don’t know for five months everything because we came into the story with him already being dead for like almost 3 months
Meaning, she probably already did grieve, even just for a regular partnership she had with somebody in a human being life being lost, and all that she would have to freaking do. Also, I think she was probably way too busy to appropriately I do hope we do see more of that. I did see some care and understanding for her deceased husband I wish we would get more of that like genuinely though I do get her remembering her past kind of being like oh I just don’t care that much anymore part of it it must be like very complicated though I do wish they would show us just a little bit more
Comes to her being like a trash bin recycling type of situation. I do get that a tiny bit like you said I don’t really have an issue with the merchant. The Duke is a lot of an issue and for Ml he wasn’t really looking for that when he went there he was only just looking for a tiny bit of a distraction. He was forced to be there so I love the fact that he just slowly fell in love with a person she is and not for that immediate or sudden infatuation with a person before that he had he even said at one point he was about to say that he even feels more comfort more is being with Penelope than he ever did with Betty
Thats what im saying like altho again i would have preferred it to be a "we both lost our first love" type of vibe instead I would have been satisfied with seeing her miss her husband at the very least as a life companion but she literally doesn't seem to give a f*ck we never see her thinking stuff like "oh he liked this tea" or "oh i remember when we talked about this" or "he used to hate me doing that" like girl would it hurt to shed a tear or two bro someone you knew just D!ED a few months ago!!! LOL he's literally just a rando NPC used as a plot device for her to get the land which is a missed opportunity imo bc we got to see the ML being depressed over HIS first love and how it turned him into a bum.

ML is given a reluctant okay bc she is a widow. That being said the fact that she is a widow but never loved or got to know her husband...sucks. I wish this had been a "they both lost their first love" type of vibe instead of "ML lost his first love and FL lost her unknown never seen before mysterious husband from an arranged marriage that she felt nothing for" like they could have at least given him a personality why is the ML allowed to love and grieve but not her???
The merchant also gets a pass bc he isnt a potential ML he is just a business partner.
