Been reading BL a lot longer than that. The community has always been toxic and will always be toxic. Lots of holier than thou attitudes, fujoshi mentality that goes past the point of just being funny/stupid in a joke way, romanticizing rape/gaslighting/confinement/etc.
The covid era brought a lot of new and temporary people into the community that didn't take all of it so damn seriously and weird (of course brought in a lot of crazies, too.) It's what the community needed to help water down the extra toxic. But they're not here all buffering and making jokes/memes anymore so it's transitioning back into the toxic wilds again.
I am a big bl reader since my 13, i found mangago when i was 15, and since then, i feel like the old gen of readers has just disappear (or maybe it's just me?). Per example, i keep seeing people saying that their first "bl" was jinx and people are like "oh yeah same" or "it's a good way to start", while when i say mine was literally lost in the cloud people start crashing out saying i'm a new gen who just follow the trend.
(and for those who think yes i'm a new gen, at THE real beginning of lost in the cloud, the updates were CRAZY long, there were only 20 chapters and so i dropped it, plus i felt like the whole story was kinda messed up and irrationnal, i was 13 okay?? TT).
Tbh i feel rejected from a fandom i've been part of for 5 years
Well my explanation is kinda long, but i wanna talk with people who lived the 2020 bl peak with the Taeddicted edits and omegaverse peak content... I don't wanna be alone on this one.
I kinda feel lonely you know ?
Most of the bl readers ik don't even know what placebo or obey me is... (THIS WAS NOT GOOD BUT IT'S WHAT MARKED ME THE MOST, the table meme)
Also sorry for any people who mistook my message (but jinx is still trash and so is bj alex :3)
