You’re literally reading a gaming BL. Of course it’s going to focus on the game. Unlike people who only read it for the BL aspect, some of us actually enjoy the plot and the gaming elements. A lot of older stories barely touched on that side and focused almost entirely on the romance or smut. If you don’t like it when the story balances the romance and delves it deeper with the gaming aspects (which is literally how their bond develops), then maybe a different BL genre would suit you better.
