Well, this fake green flag story is over. It's diabolical the way webtoon creators can write textbook abuser ML characters but get everything about how that behaviour would affect the MC wildly wrong: all hearts and flowers and "He just loves me that much".

Like this last chapter ends with EVERYONE still lying to Jeongyun about his family knowing about his sexual orientation and relationship and it is presented as something sweet and blissful. Family acceptance is something on his mind and he gets no reassurance about it. Instead, what we get is a scene in which Jeongyun's misunderstanding is linked to him not comprehending the depths of Chaehon's love and he thinks it is something to apologise for. What could be wrong about this?

We just came out of a storyline in which Chaehon intentionally hid major information about who he was from Jeongyun. Because he didn't have that knowledge Jeongyun reasonably became anxious about his boyfriend's behaviour with someone else. He admitted to himself that his anxiety was blowing things up in his mind but he had observed enough to ask for an explanation. He is genuinely distressed and hurt, his feelings are valid, and what does Chaehon do when Jeongyun builds up the courage to ask what's going on in the privacy of their home? Laugh in his face then fuck him. And, AS USUAL, Jeongyun is written to like it so readers can go, "Aww they just match each others' freak."

BUT when Jeongyun sent a light hearted text about a possible life without him Chaehon loses it. He: 1) demands Jeongyun leave his work to address it. Violation of work/personal life boundaries. If Jeongyun's boss wasn't cool she could have made it a problem for him. 2) angrily confronts Jeongyun in a semi-public venue to heighten his anxiety and potential embarrassment. 3) threatens physical violence over the idea that Jeongyun could leave him. It ends with Jeongyun laughing in his face—no it ends with him feeling responsible for Chaehon's response, apologising and promising himself to be a better boyfriend to protect Chaehon's peace of mind.

THIS IS A TEXTBOOK TOXIC, ABUSIVE SITUATION. Humans are weird we enjoy a lot of weird shit, I read this story to the end right along with you (although I enjoyed this one less and less and only stuck around for our sweet redhead.) I need us to be able to recognise what we are reading. Chaehon's explosive temper, unpredictable moods, controlling behaviour, the management of his life "for his own good" as "love" in contrast to Jeongyun positioned as being stupid/oblivious for not seeing the truth around him, ready to take on anything as his fault is classic abuser validating rhetoric.

you took the words straight outta my mouth. realistically their relationship is either going to blow up in a few years or rot jeongyun slowly over the years becoming something he would only be capable of processing when chaehon is likely dead. its all fun and games because the story ends here when all of the most significant and burdensome aspects of chaehon’s obsession are still viewed under the delusion of rose coloured glasses.

I stopped reading it bc it pussed me off when he told the friend not to let jeongyun know I was like huh??? EVERYONE TIPTOEING AROUND HIM BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO HURT HIM??? Like what? How is ya'll knowing he's gay and accepting it gonna hurt him in any way??? Like every single person in his life treats him like he's still a child & that pissed me off so much I decided I wasn't gonna finish it but I got curious on how it ends & came to the comments.
