Freya wishes she was all that, but alas, she's just yet another conspiring human
Freya was just delusional human with limited point of view. But at the end she was the same as the head maid. The only reason she managed to hold so far was that she had the position of Ellen best friend from the time of hard childhood with the mentally ill person. She was also more ambitious with her "role" in front of them is to be cheerful and maintaining them as good friend which is why her facade last a little longer, and she had more time with her so she could be more active and more comfortable in doing her large scale deeds (while all the head maid could do was things like telling her not to go to an important event).
The did care for their connection but both her and the head maid only saw it through the lens of what was convenient to them and their ego:
Head maid - "I am the true mother of Ellen , the only one who saw her"
Freya - she lived in a fairy-tale where she was the meant to be for Isak and Ellen best friend, where she was in the highest position without needing to hold responsibility
