Oh its definitely a lot more his fault than he likes to admit (considering all that verbal and physical abuse) but arguably the root of Dans abandonment issues and his alcoholism pre-date their relationship.
Ofc, once you rape a guy, you cant exactly site their pre-existing mental health problems to try and explain why they took it so poorly.
