If the portrayal of a character, especially one involved in toxic or abusive behavior, is written in a way that downplays, romanticizes, or mishandles that behavior, people are absolutely within their rights to call it out.
And pointing that out is not an attack, it's engaging with it. Holding stories accountable doesn’t mean demanding perfection; it means asking for responsibility, especially when the work deals with serious issues that could potentially affect the way of thinking of actual 15 year olds that you’re assuming all the people who are mature enough to recognize that this behavior is clearly reckless and wrong to be.
