the complicated characters add more depth to the story and adds more room for character development, if the story was more focused on the lovey dovey relationship of yujun and jiho instead of their stories and how they battle it—personally, it would be a bit boring and cliche. just expressing my opinion though :)
idc girl i love me some boring loving story i read a bunch of complicated stuff w complex characters i just wanted some wholesomeness for once.
