Ohh I'm so sad...
She was so traumatized that she forgot all of it
From what I understood, a guy gave her a necklace and the marquis found out so he beat her so bad the maid got worried (I think that at that time it would considered ok to beat your wife, but it was so bad she got surprised), she was just a child, I want to protect her ╥﹏╥

Seriously, I feel so sad seeing the things all these adults did to a mere child. Horrible circumstances, abhorrent behaviors.

When the artist tried to portrait this moment I did not understand a shit. And I hate when they try to "made it like a super mystic moment and very mysterious" when it should have been better to explain, with more words, the things that were explained in the novel.

I did know about the necklace, I thought it belonged to the prince but for me it made no sense at all, and I guessed her husband was angry but not this much.

Thanks for the explanation, now the whole story makes more sense.

Yes, it can be a little difficult to understand, I still don't know about the guy who gave her the necklace or her relationship with him (I don't think she cheated or something like that, but I think she could be close to him in a innocent kinda way - at least from her part)

and that is exactly how to ruin this story. there is nothing more damaging than dumbing down a story for people who refuse to critically think and who don’t even try to read between the lines. i’m not sure where your from (not meant in a mean way sorry) but always in school growing up where im from, everyone is taught “show not tell” in literature, because you’re supposed to SHOW your audience what’s happening so they can figure it out and experience it, not just tell them. because then i’m just listing a fact not telling a story. what’s the point of reading this if you’re told everything right off the bat? that isn’t interesting at all. there have also been numerous instances where we’ve seen glimpses of the abuse, the author has done an impeccable job showing how abuse can cause memory loss due to severe trauma. but not telling us the extent of the abuse because obviously the only person to experience it, SHURI, is unable to recount it accurately due to the severe trauma.

not to mention the fact that this is a Manhwa so there’s even more opportunities to pick up on subtle hints and lore just by looking at the art and each panel. all in all this manhwa is amazing

Exactly!! I wasn’t sure people read the words on the panels or even looked at it based on how confused everyone is in the comments

I think there is no need to go that far ma dear. I wouldn't have read this story if it wasn't for the art/way of expressing things without words (because, let's be honest, when the art is good, you can do that)/ and sometimes the good translation (I can't remember if it was in this one or another, but sometimes the translation is not that great, but at least you can follow the story thanks to the artist).

I can be blunt and say I did not understand a shit in the first reading because that is what happen. And the other people who read the novel have more information than I have by reading instead of watching the illustrations. Those are some facts.

After that, I have explained what I got from the story and the drawings, and @Sweeeet kindly mentioned that she had some difficulties or lack of information from that part, which, I hope, we can find very soon now the story is speaking about the parts we dont know from that moment.

Critizing my comment or my country without meaning it... Oh well, I don't come here to critizice nobody. You have your opinion, I have mine. Maybe my English or the lack of explanation were not good enough, so I hope this explanation helps :D

Really, I am a FAN, but I can be frustrated by some parts and express myself.

Let others explain their opinions honestly.

It is definitely a little difficult to properly piece together what happened, which is modtly due to shuri being an unreliable narrator, its supposed to be a bit jarring since these are fragments of memories. They will probably explain it a bit better when the kids find out, I can only assume anyway.

The first memory I got after watching the scene was uneasiness. Something has happened because the prince or somebody else has sent a gift and I thought the worst of the worst.

Now that everything is starting to come clear (thanks for everybody who has given their opinions here, it made me to completely understand what I saw back then) it is hard, and ... By the way, her mother can be harsh, convenient... But I am thinking that some women back then were looking forward to avoid poverty so... I have mixed feelings here.

I don't like her of course, but her point of view is not living in misery thanks to her daughters marriage...

Its not hard to understand why her mother wants her to go back, since she is the sole 'breadwinner' of sorts of their family. She is just incredibly heartless to dismiss her and her experience like she did, no comfort or any encouragement, just 'fuck off back to your abuser'

True. It is hard to get nowadays that there has been the same situations in history.

I think she's getting money and a position or something else from the church if her mother is selling her.

I mean now, in the trial. Because she is not getting more money from her daughter afterall, right?
