I don’t think the lore behind Jian has fully been explained yet. What we know so far is he has basically been protecting Jitae from his mother, to his own detriment

maybe someone can explain and if it will be revealed later just tell me, i’ve reread it about 3 times now. I think the side couple is really interesting but idk right now why jian is so important to the story, maybe there’s something i keep skimming over
