To be fair, not sure if it’s been halfway or almost of this season, but the author mentioned that endgame is obvious in this season, halfway. So there’s the answer.
I truly don’t think they’re endgame due to how insistent TJ is. I don’t know how anyone can have hopes for him because author is obviously showing his refusal to move forward with Ian.
“Let’s go back to how it was”.
It doesn’t matter to Jo as long as he is loved back. He’s not that insecure as far as I remember.
I don’t really dwell on the “second option” because how is to fair to compare? TJ was Ian’s first everything, first family first love, etc.
It doesn’t mean they’ll be the last. Jo potentially being Ian’s last is more meaningful than someone’s first, for example. A first kiss is memorable for some time, but the last years of your life and kisses with your last person on earth is far more valuable than the past.
So far Author has obviously shown that Ian and TJ is a thing of past, and Jo is his future. Second option may be the best option, numbers mean little to nothing when the quality is what matters.
Plus Ian doesn’t really see Jo as a second option, he always puts Jo before himself and how he doesn’t deserve Jo. He’s seeing Jo in a good light, not a prize.

Forgot to add how that TJ is his first everything because Ian has been abused his whole life, of course he will love that first person who was by his side. It’s like a duckling being born, finding the first they see and getting attached. But there may come someone else that can give him life, not just be in the life.

I’m saying he’s the second option because Ian asked TJ to leave it all behind for him and he was let down. If he goes to Jo now that means he’s just going to him because he was rejected by who he loved and he will settle for Jo. I like Jo so I think he deserves better than that but since he loves Ian he won’t complain about it and just accept it which is sad.
Anyway you clearly take this work of fiction very seriously tho so I wont argue with you lol

I don’t think he will go to Jo right NOW. Point is being second option isn’t really bad like some make it to be. It’s not really much of a comparison if you know the first option is anxiety driving for Ian, and second option is literally someone that can be there do him (potentially).
and he wasn’t rejected by TJ. TJ is just delaying, Ian is the one letting go of him maybe. Sorry if you got offended, was not trying to argue. It’s hard to tell tone through text.
as a TJ x Ian truther i knew this was coming sooner or later im so glad my bby Ian is finally putting himself first tho!! i will say people shouldn’t immediately assume Jo will be the end game just from this chapter…that would just mean Jo is Ian’s second option and consolation prize cause he couldn’t have the person he really wanted…how is that fair to Jo?
