I will not get tired of writing this . Hating weak emotional FLs is getting out of hand. She literally has a reason and history for being the way she is. You guys need to learn that story a progress and reading only 10 chapters can't give you full context.
small spoiler here.
The FL was abused (mentallyand physically by her parentsfornher whole life) , traumatized, and nearly assaulted multiple times, leaving her with deep scars like PTSD and body dysmorphia. There is more story though.
so yes. Try being in her shoes.

I’m not sure about others, but my biggest problem with 99% of soft or “weak” fls is that they’re all the same they have the same abuse backstory, struggles and always written as a naïve little kitten that needs to be saved every single time. I have not read the novel but so far she is nothing special and she’s like every other soft fl with the same ass backstory, I can’t name a single thing that really sets her apart from the rest and I think that’s the biggest issue with soft fls and I do get tired of it.
Also absolutely despise that almost every soft fl gets a yellow flag ml or a man who can’t communicate his feelings and is overly aggressive but she changes him bc she such a kind hearted person. It’s such a repetitive trope like why can’t she ever get a nice guy who is gentle with her from the start. It’s such a repetitive trope.

I get what you mean, but honestly, this isn’t a light trauma background—at least in my opinion. It’s more psychological than action-driven. I actually like this kind of character, since not everyone connects with a strong, “badass” female lead. Some readers want someone they can relate to.
She does go through real character development, and it takes time, which feels realistic. You can’t expect 21 years of abuse to just disappear in a month or two. She’s also not the typical “I don’t know anything about s*x” character—she’s honest about her desires and learns to express herself.
One thing I noticed while reading is that she only cries when she’s with the male lead. When something awful happens, she shuts down her emotions, but around him, she lets herself be vulnerable and express what she’s feeling.

Lmao its bc i was in her shoes that this consent 'weakness' is pissing me off. Every person I've ever known that went thru something similar (myself included) always feels so much stronger. Bc u have to be strong to survive going thru shit like that, which makes it all the more frustrating to see someone depicted as so weak. Someone who is so naive and is so innocent like every ither sweet female lead that goes through VERY similar traumas, maybe bc authors these days have no originality so the impact of these traumas are all so similar. The end result for trauma in manhwa, when the character is a women, seems to be becoming meek, sad, cries a lot with the right person and requires the help of the male lead. Its never violence, its never ugly anger and its never realistic. When its a male character going through these traumas, its always the guy becoming withdrawn or violent or lash out or don't like touch.
See how the trauma and the characteristics that come from it have become stereotypes? The way you can list several manhwa with this concept (this one likely on that stupid list)? Flat and 2d is what something is when it follows stereotypes instead of actually looking at the realities of how trauma presents, there are many fmc who are meek as a result of trauma, not so many who show the rage that comes with it.
This doesn't feel like good representation, its insulting, and more importantly, fucking shit to read bc there is nothing to relate with when someone is a cookie cutter 'soft' female lead that gets with someone thats scary and 'helps' him become less scary or less violent/angry with her kindness out of the goodness if her fucking heart
A reason and history for the way she's acting isn't good enough when the author themselves MADE AND WROTE that history. Especially when her character falls flat and feels 2d as fuck.

Oh sorry to hear that you went through similar trauma. But not everyone has a same response to a abuse. You weren't able to relate to her. And I was. So if you don't like it you can pass. I will embrace weak characters.
I guess you have already read the novel and know how story unfolds, since you are so sure about her character. Maybe you are right, after being brainwashed and groomed for 21 years that you are ugly monster, who only needs to live for someone else's sake and needs to give up her life for them doesn't give her right to be weak and needs to have her opinions. Not to mention, what does it matter if you were kidnapped and almost raped two times. Than to be blamed by your own mother that everything bad has happened to you is your fault. Oh yeah and being sold by your father? Not so traumatizing. Yeah everyone after this need to be badass.

I think that the main problem for a lot of people here and me personally is that the authors a lot of times write fl like her. In a lot of stories the female lead has traumas, and has suffered abuse from like everyone, when in fact the story can be written with a different type of female lead, not the abused one which we see a lot of times. In a lot of manhwas and novels from the romance genre the fl are like that, its like the same thing, just a liiiittle different, but is still the same. That what people are fed up with, its just copy paste at this point.

My main point was how copy and paste these characters are - of course ppl have different reactions to similar trauma. It all just falls flat though when authors repeat or copy characters traits (again, making truama and meekness a stereotype)
Regardless, I'm getting just as tired arguing my point so I'll leave it to that. I do hope you enjoy the story even tho I cant, the art seems pretty
TIRED of the 'innocent naive' women concept. every fl is so goddamn childlike. you'd think someone making fucking illegal drugs would have a bit more gall, but no, every women mc in these novels/manhwa has to be the classical uwu kawaii girl that can do cool things but cannot save themselves or get out of a sticky situation if their life depended on it bc how else will the hot super-cool masculine man come sweeping over to save them
