So, long long ago, Matnael's Order was selling these blessed gemstones to nobles

These gemstones has the power of redirecting attacks & bad luck to the nearest person who spent the longest time with the wearer

It was previously misused and abused by nobles, which almost resulted to a civil unrest. Thus, the emperor at that time banned its use, took away all gemstones & redacted it from history.

Now, it became apparent that the royal family held on to at least one of these gemstones, which the prince gave to Kira for her protection.

Unfortunately, the closest person who spent the longest time with Kira was Emily, making her the target of attacks, bad luck, & most recently, Astina's curse.

What's worse was that there were hints that Kira was either aware or had an inkling of these effects, but chose to stay mum in pursuit of her goals.

Kira & the prince, more or less, chose to sacrifice Emily for their goals, without anyone else's knowledge.

Now, given the most recent event, Ethan/Eden's friend, William, is advising him to separate himself from the prince & not join his knigjt brigade.
Because in the event the prince decides to use a gemstone himself, the most likely victim would be Eden, who has been the prince's closest aide for a long time.
