Brother kind of manipulate him to think that he's the only one on his side. Remember they were close before and their parents neglected him. Thats the reason why he also does not want to compete with him and just help him as his assistant but their grandfather wanted them to be a rival. He was hoping his brother does not see him as a threat. He loves him even though he's more capable on leading their business, he's willing to give it up.
Imo he respected his brother and loved him before when they were closer (though it was one-sided from mc's side) but he for sure doesn't love him now.
He only fears him and that's why he was so hellbent on proving the ml wrong by telling him that his brother doesn't want him to survive.
