Hmm it’s been a bit since I last read it, but I don’t remember the ML being a bully? I thought he was just friends with the bullies but didn’t do anything himself (although still being a bystander)
Either way, even if I’m wrong, I really enjoyed the story and how both characters developed as their own person as well as with each other. I personally think it’s worth it

Ah. I mean yeah it’s definitely a shitty thing to do and I wouldn’t even want to be friends with someone like that, but I guess I don’t see it as actually being a bully unless they’re the one doing it or are laughing about it, etc. but that’s my personal opinion!
But yes, I loved that story tbh. But everything comes down to preference so you might still not end up liking it lol. The ML starts acting like a better person eventually. I feel like the story is a lot about character growth.
