From where I read up to, it seemed like a "kill the world to save the one u love" or "kill the one u love to save the world" decision the ex fiance had to make (and honestly can't hate him for choosing to save "the world" considering hes a world leader) BUT it also didnt make much sense why killing her was necessary (they could have just staged her death) so something felt off about the situation
Anywayyyyy, it sounds like all the world leaders suck here (some, ex fiance and his dad, more than others) which mirrors the real world a lot haha, so imma drop, but this comment brought me closure so thnks!!!

Also could be wrong coz I skipped a lot, but I dont think the ex fiance is a terrible person, extremely flawed and dumb sure but he was tricked by his dad to kill his love interest to "save" his ppl (again could be wrong, but imma live with this interpretation haha)
Wc! Had to express my thoughts tbh cus majority of the commenters all simply accepted the "everyone makes mistakes sometimes" narrative, and bc you skipped through the story (understandable tbh , I personally only enjoyed it for the art) , the reasoning for the ex bf decision was that he was lied to by his father and he didn't think the substance was to kill MC'S past body, he thought it was gonna make her lose consciousness and was planning to kidnap her and run away tgt. But his dad lied, and knowing that his father lied to the people abt his now dead gf, he chose to validate those lies instead of speaking up and that's the start of his cowardice choices.

Basically he KNOWS that his father IS the one who cause the big fire which killed the people of the South, which then sparked a whole other war/fight . So yea A LOT of blood was shed by these two's decisions. The "truce" they formed was after all that, and it still cause a lot of infighting and discrimination between South and North.

this isbthe kinda story where at the end, you're supposed to be like "everyone makes bad choices and mistakes sometimes, but ultimately they're all trying their best"
BUT objectively speaking, Squall, and his dad is THE Ultimate villain and most of the other character's sins are all quite literally incomparable to the amount of damage these two have cause for others. The father, for his sins of malice, he literally caused everything, and Squall for his ultimate cowardice and inaction which enabled all of it to happen and worsen.
Like don't get me wrong, Fl is annoying asf to me at the start, esp in the real world's current social climate. but Her ultimate sin was being born and living the aristocratic life, which we have been shown, EVERY OTHER ARISTOCRAT WAS DOING THE SAME THING.
like if hating on the rich and privileged is a competition, I'd be gunning for gold. but literally every other character's actions and chain reaction were all caused by what yhe Squalls chose.
i too, would love to have a story where things are so bad but it was equally caused, this just isn't that. it's a story about how 2 extremely selfish people ruined literally 2nations worth of people's lives.
